What happens when there’s no pianist and a belly dancer arrives instead of a
ballerina? The show must still go on.
Piano Recital (Piano Not Included)
is a new show combining
music, dance and theatre
for a humorous peek into the mysterious, private world of the professional
musician which few performers allow an audience
to share.
|
|
It is March 2008. St Martin-in-the-Fields is packed with an expectant
audience, blissfully unaware of the panic taking place behind the small door
to the left of the stage. Less than thirty minutes to go and the pianist has
not yet arrived. He is stuck in the mayhem of
London
traffic, made especially worse by the extensive road works within the city.
But the show must go on. Can the concert really go ahead without a pianist?
This is the true story that inspired
the Goldman Ensemble’s new show.

Galit Mersand
has been teaching and performing Bellydance for over a decade. She trained
with some of the world’s greatest Bellydance masters. Since getting her
teacher’s diploma from JWAAD Galit has gone on to establish herself as one
of the UK's favourite belly dancers and sought after teachers. She is now
also on the JWAAD’s teacher training
team.
Her passion for dance encourages her to keep training and explore other
forms of dance that she incorporates into her Bellydancing adding an edge to
it which is unique to her. As a performer Galit’s presence is mesmerising,
versatile and original. Her flare for drama adds narrative and humour to her
performances which has become her trademark. Those who have seen Galit on
stage know to expect something different and original.
Galit has
performed in many different productions;
Egyptian Moonlight,
Fantasia
and Jewels of the Nile
- to name a few. Her versatility got her a part dancing in the production of
the Opera 'Djamilla'
at the
Royal Opera House in London. Galit’s
solo sell out show Bellylicious
was created in 2007 with a view to expose a wider audience to the dance.
Bellylicious is a
Bellydance cabaret show with a difference in which Galit demonstrates with
great passion and much humour what it's all about using short commentary
between numbers to put her message across. Truly entertaining this show is
unlike any other Bellydance show past or present. Galit performs the show
regularly in London and Brighton.
